Abralog Signs Agreement in Paris with ELA
The Brazilian Logistics Association (Abralog) signed a technical cooperation agreement with the European Logistics Association (ELA) on Tuesday, April 1, in Paris. ELA is a federation comprising 22 national logistics associations and connects thousands of professionals from various countries. The agreement was formalized during Abralog’s participation in the Salon International du Transport et de la Logistique (SITL), one of the world’s most prestigious logistics events.
Markus Mau, President of ELA, and Pedro Moreira, representing Abralog, formalized the partnership aimed at promoting the dissemination and development of logistics and supply chain sectors. This collaboration seeks to foster innovation, integrate universities, strengthen professional competencies, and jointly develop studies, research, events, visits, and benchmarking of best practices. These efforts aim to enhance productivity, efficiency, and reduce logistical costs for organizations, member associates, and the broader market.
President Markus Mau expressed enthusiasm about the agreement. According to him, the shared interests between the two organizations pave the way for multifaceted and promising cooperation. “We have already discussed initial ideas that we now want to turn into reality,” stated the European association’s president.
“This is a historic moment for Brazilian logistics,” said Pedro Moreira. “The signing of this agreement represents a strategic step in connecting Brazil’s logistics sector to global best practices, contributing to sustainable and competitive development in the local market.”
Through this partnership, Moreira highlighted Abralog’s reinforced mission to link Brazilian markets to global trends. He emphasized the benefits of this international agreement: greater integration of Brazil with international standards; opportunities for Brazilian companies to connect with global projects; as well as technical training and access to tools that can improve operational efficiency in the country.
One of the objectives of this cooperation is also to involve universities from different countries to collaborate on sensitive topics related to logistics and supply chains. “The union between private initiatives and academia is essential for strengthening our sector,” he added.
“The connection between Abralog and ELA was established through the French Logistics Association (Afilog), with whom we have maintained a close partnership for several years,” recalled Pedro Moreira. He thanked Afilog’s president Claude Samson and European director Thomas Steinmüller.
“We are eager for collaboration between ELA and Abralog,” said Steinmüller. “The joint presence of ELA and Afilog in the European Union’s political landscape offers an additional perspective for collaborating with Abralog. Unique knowledge can be made available in Brussels (ELA headquarters) to support agreements such as Mercosur,” emphasized Afilog’s director.
At Afilog’s invitation, Abralog participated in SITL through meetings, sessions, and visits. In 2023, Afilog was the international highlight at Abralog’s National Logistics Conference (CNL) during Intermodal. At this year’s SITL event, Abralog had space at Pavilion Afilog (photo), where it showcased its activities, technical papers, and projects aligned with its strategic goal of internationalization.
